Nurge Tambour Hook 240-7 This lovely beech wood tambour hook is used for bead embroidery (also called French embroidery or Aari) as well as decorative chain stitch embroidery called tambour work. The hook catches the thread on the backside of the fabric, pulling it to the front side to create loops or attach beads or sequins.
The Nurge Tambour Hook comes with a No.2 (0.7mm) needle
No.1 (0.6), No.2 (0.7mm), and No.3 (0.08mm) are available to order separately.
The medium hook is great for getting started and is appropriate for using fine cotton thread on a stable surface fabric. If you try something lighter or more delicate, you may want to choose the fine hook. The smaller size will penetrate better and create a smaller hole. This will reduce your risk of creating a pull in the fabric as you stitch. If you are using a fine, silk thread, the fine hook may also be superior as the thread will sit more securely in the smaller space of the hook.
